English Shortwave to Africa & the Middle East

English-language shortwave broadcasts for Africa and the Middle East, from international broadcasters and African and religious stations, on the timelines of your cities and in your own time zone.

Africa is where shortwave is still most alive, and English is one of its main languages. The BBC World Service runs the biggest schedule, with morning and afternoon blocks for West, Central and East Africa. Vatican Radio, Trans World Radio from Eswatini and Benin, China Radio International and Voice of America follow. Local and regional voices include ELWA in Liberia, Radio Mali, Radio Algiers International and Radio Tunis, and religious stations such as African Pathways Radio from Madagascar. For the Middle East there is English from the BBC, CRI, Voice of Korea, Voice of Vietnam, Voice of Turkey and Radyo Pilipinas, which serves Filipino workers in the Gulf.

Most of Africa does not change its clocks, but the stations publish their schedules in UTC and change frequencies at the end of March and the end of October. This calendar follows the current season of the EiBi shortwave schedule and places each broadcast at its local time in each of your cities, from Lagos to Nairobi to Dubai.
