UK & Irish Coastguard Weather Times & Frequencies

When the coast guards of the UK and Ireland broadcast weather forecasts, gale warnings and maritime safety information on medium frequency (MF), on the timelines of your cities and in your own time zone.

HM Coastguard broadcasts from Shetland, Stornoway (Butt of Lewis), Humber (Cullercoats) and Falmouth (Isles of Scilly); the Irish Coast Guard from Malin Head in Donegal and Valentia in Kerry. Each broadcast is a short block of about fifteen minutes: inshore waters and sea area forecasts, gale and strong wind warnings, and navigational warnings. The northern stations repeat every three hours, Malin Head every four, Valentia eight times a day.

MF reaches further offshore than VHF, so these broadcasts matter to yachts and fishing boats beyond VHF range, and to radio listeners who log coast stations. Broadcast times are published in UTC, while the UK and Ireland change their clocks twice a year; this calendar follows the EiBi schedule and shows every broadcast at its local time in each of your cities.
